Information received
A search query entered into a third-party search tool is passed to that provider so it can return its results. We may receive a message, email address, or other details you choose to send through a contact channel. Like most web services, we may also receive technical information such as browser type, device characteristics, referring address, IP address, pages viewed, and approximate time of access. Cookies and similar tools can remember settings, measure use, deliver relevant advertising, or help diagnose technical issues.
How information is used
Information may be used to operate and protect the service, respond to messages, understand traffic patterns, improve content, maintain the search function, measure advertising or referral activity, and meet legal obligations. We do not use a message to confirm a person’s custody, obtain a government record, or make a court decision. A query entered with a search partner is subject to that partner’s own privacy terms.
When information may be shared
Service providers may process data for search, analytics, hosting, advertising, communications, fraud prevention, and technical support. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal order requires it, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer permitted by law. We do not control the data practices of an external site reached through a link, including official City of St. Louis, Missouri court, corrections, police, federal, or state pages.
Links and outside tools
The service links to public locators and other outside resources. A link does not place that other site under this notice or constitute control over its availability, content, or data handling. Review the destination’s terms before entering a name, contact detail, or other information. Search partners and advertising providers can have their own cookies and collection practices.
Security and retention
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage method is completely secure. Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, to resolve a request, comply with legal duties, or maintain records needed for operations. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through a general contact channel.
Children and your choices
This service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from them. Depending on where you live, you may ask about personal information held about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, object to some processing, or withdraw consent. Browser controls may limit cookies, although some functions can change when they are blocked. Send a privacy request through Contacts with enough detail to identify the request.
Changes to this notice
Practices can change as the service, laws, or providers change. A revised notice takes effect when posted here. Continued use after posting means the updated notice applies to future use.
